Holy Wow! It's Been A While

Hey team! It's been a while since I've posted anything, and for that I am sorry. I have been working quite a bit, and the few days I did have off I helped a friend move in and I slept. But the exciting this is that when I was working, we got a lot done! Some of the things that were accomplished, I can not actually talk about yet because we are still in pre production and there for if I were to speak about them I could get in trouble. But, the the thing I can talk about are boring to many but exciting to me! So in the last week or so I have worked on sound stuff, lighting, and just random manual labor. Mark, the systems designer that I have been working with had to leave for a bit to go work on another show, so I got to go work on team lighting! While on team lighting, I helped clean all of the lights that are used in the show, I was off the days they hung a majority of them, and helped cable a ton of them as well. I was working on the roofs of many of the buildings, and was in some pretty tight spaces, it was a good time. I also got to un dent all of the SM 58 Wireless Sure Microphones, clean the inner wind screen and then sew on the new wind screens. That took me a whole day, and I wasn't expecting it to. But everything is clean now! Yesterday, I hauled a ton of scrap wood and randomness away to be disposed of . I also had to move a 900+ lb garage door. That was a nightmare, a heavy, scary, nightmare. It took myself and two of my lovely co workers to get it up the walkway, and I am very grateful that it didn't get stuck anywhere. Today, I spent the day out of the sun terminating Cat6A cable that could have survived a bombing, it was crazy! I'll be posting a picture below of the before and after. It was a long day but there is a fun filled day planned for tomorrow.

Sound in an Amphitheater

So for the past two weeks I've had the pleasure of working with Mark Brodin, the systems designer for the Burning Hills Amphitheater. During this time we have pulled out cable that is about a decade old, pulled in new cable that will hopefully allow the show to run more smoothly for the next few years, replaced faders on our digital board, fully cleaned all of amplifiers, checked all of the microphones, and Aviom in ear monitor system, ordered new parts, and a few other things that I'm sure I'm forgetting. It has been crazy busy and we aren't even done yet folks! We still need to get a set piece all wired up and tested, but we are waiting on parts. Not to mention that the actual theater it self needs to be cleaned and some repairs need to be done as well. Needless to say, here in Medora or at the Amp, its always busy even after opening. I'll post some pictures below about some of the process that we went through.
The Amp rack that powers the sound system

Cleaning the amp rack, each piece was removed, opened up, and had all of the dust blown out.

The Soundboard

Amp and Prep season vibe

Ten year old instal cable that was used for a year, took an hour to clean up.

New Cat 6A cable (white) and new Coax Cable (black), on the spool, getting ready to travel to its new home.

Why yes, that is a fly in a giant bottle of hand sanitizer. It was very preserved.

The new stage rack that will on the Gazebo. Words cannot express my excitement.
  Have a great night!

Medora

So as I mentioned in the previous post, I'm currently out in Medora, ND, a very little town, some would consider it tiny, that attracts many humans from all over, and they come to see the Medora Musical. Its beautiful out here, though it can be very lonely. I will be out here working in the ampitheatere, maintaining it and what not, and working on the musical for the whole season, as well as some other events. Enjoy a few of the images of Medora that Ive taken so far.

The oldest tree in Medora, happens to be right outside of the post office. They built the road around the tree, and continue to do repair around the tree as well.

The storms are rolling in

Introductions and Such

Hello! My name is Charlotte and Im currently working out at the Burning Hills Amphitheater, and will be working as the A2 or Audio assistant for the Medora Musical. I've decided that I would do a blog while I'm out here to hopefully keep the folks at home a little more up to date. I will say that this blog will not be an every day posting place, seeing as once the season out here starts, I'll be very busy, so please bear with me. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!

Have a Great Night!!
